Galatasaray gains the upper hand against Liverpool

Khaberni  - The Turkish team Galatasaray snatched a precious win from its guest, the English team Liverpool, with a scoreline of one goal to none on Tuesday in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16.

Galatasaray entered the match strongly, searching for a quick goal to surprise the visitors, and indeed in the 7th minute, Mario Lemina managed to score a sudden goal for the home side with a spectacular header.

Liverpool became more active after that, trying to score the equalizer, but Galatasaray's defense and goalkeeper Urgan Çakır managed to fend off the English team's attacks.

The second half saw significant activity from both teams where Galatasaray scored a goal through their player Victor Osimhen, which was canceled due to offside, and Liverpool scored the equalizer in the 70th minute, although it was canceled after referring back to the video assistant referee.

The home side finished the match strongly and almost added a second goal on several occasions, especially with the active trio of Baris Yilmaz, Gabriel Sara, and Noah Lang, and in front of them striker Osimhen. In the 86th minute, Sara almost scored Galatasaray's second goal after he shot a powerful strike that went beside the goalkeeper Mamardashvili's goal.

On the other hand, Liverpool relied on quick surprise attacks, and in the 89th minute, Ekitike almost scored the equalizer, but his header went over the bar; then Khakpo launched a ground shot in the first minute of injury time that went beside goalkeeper Çakır's goal.

With this, Galatasaray continued its dominance over Liverpool in the current edition of the Champions League, having previously beaten the Reds at the same stadium by a goal to nil as well during the league stage in September.
