British Airways Cancels Flights to Jordan

Khaberni - On Tuesday, British Airways announced the cancellation of all its flights to and from several major destinations in the Middle East due to "ongoing uncertainty in the regional situation and the loss of security in the airspace"

According to the official update on the company's official website, flights to and from Amman, Bahrain, Doha, Dubai, and Tel Aviv have been cancelled until the end of March, while flights to and from Abu Dhabi are suspended until the end of the year 2026, and the company confirmed it is "continuously reviewing the situation" and communicating with affected customers to offer multiple options.

"British Airways" clarified that it will provide limited evacuation flights from Muscat in Oman to London Heathrow on only March 11 and 12, with seats reserved for current booking holders, as seats on previous flights were quickly exhausted. The company advised customers not to head to airports without a booking confirmation and to follow the British Foreign Office's advice.

The company explained that for bookings up until March 15 to the affected destinations including Riyadh and Larnaca, customers can change their travel dates for free until March 29, or request a full refund via "Manage My Booking"; other flights are operating normally, with a recommendation to check the flight status before traveling.

This measure is part of a series of emergency adjustments taken by global airlines due to the regional military escalation, which has closed wide airspace areas and increased flying risks over the region.

The announcement comes in the context of the severe military escalation the region has been experiencing since early March, where the United States and Israel are carrying out intense airstrikes on Iranian targets, with Iranian responses involving rockets and drones, leading to the closure of large parts of the airspace in the Middle East, and elevating the risks of flying over the Gulf states, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria.

These events and military operations have impacted dozens of global airlines, including cancellations from Emirates, Qatar Airways, Lufthansa, and others.

British Airways had previously launched evacuation flights from Muscat in the preceding days, but the high demand quickly exhausted the available seats, and more have been suspended after March 12.
