Media Awareness A Necessity Not a Choice in the Era of Artificial Intelligence Fabrication

News in our era is no longer just information transferred from a source to a recipient; it has become a force capable of directing minds, shaping public mood, and forming attitudes. In an era where news constantly flows through screens and phones, a single image or short video can evoke widespread emotions, create significant empathy or change people's views on an issue.
With the rise of social media, public opinion is no longer shaped only through traditional media institutions, but also forms in open digital spaces where truth mixes with rumors, and accurate information with fabricated content. With the rapid development in artificial intelligence technologies, it is now possible to produce highly realistic images and videos that many people find difficult to distinguish from real life.
This highlights the urgent need for greater media awareness, because what appears real onscreen might sometimes be a sophisticated digital fabrication.

Artificial intelligence has caused a tremendous revolution in the world of technology and digital media. These technologies have opened wide horizons in the fields of education, creativity, and media production, contributing to the facilitation and development of many tasks. However, these capabilities can sometimes be used irresponsibly, especially in the fabrication of images and video clips.
Today, some advanced programs can create an image that looks completely real, or a video suggesting an event that never happened. Social media may circulate these materials very quickly, leading many recipients to believe they are viewing real scenes, while in reality, it is digitally created content.
The problem lies not only in producing this type of content but in the speed of its spread. Social media has turned the world into an open space for the exchange of news and information, where an image or video can reach thousands or even millions of people in a very short time.
Often, the average user receives these materials as authenticated facts, reposting them out of curiosity, empathy, or the desire to share the news with others. Thus, many people – unintentionally – may become a link in the chain of spreading inaccurate information or fabricated content.
The danger increases when these materials are designed professionally to look very realistic, making it difficult for the ordinary recipient to detect their falseness. Therefore, some images or videos may have a strong impact on public opinion before it later becomes clear that they are not real.
This underscores the importance of media awareness in dealing with digital content. Today's user is no longer just a recipient of information but also a publisher of it. Each sharing of unverified content may contribute to the spread of misleading information on a broad scale.
It has therefore become necessary to pause before publishing any content, to look for its original source, and to verify its authenticity through more than one reliable party. Critical thinking when dealing with widespread images and videos on the Internet has become a fundamental skill in the era of digital media.

Finally, the tremendous technological development we are witnessing today holds great opportunities for progress and knowledge, but at the same time, it presents a greater responsibility in how we handle information. The image we see, or the video we watch, may not always reflect reality as it appears.
Therefore, media awareness is no longer an option but a necessity in a world where information accelerates and sources vary. Pausing to verify the accuracy of content before posting it may be a simple step, but it contributes to protecting the truth from distortion and maintaining the credibility of the word in a vast and rapidly spreading digital space.
Between an image that spreads in seconds and a truth that needs verification, awareness remains the compass that helps us distinguish between reality and what is fabricated to appear as reality.
