The Directorate of Awqaf of Jerash has commenced the rehabilitation of the Hashimi Mosque with a central tender valued at 70,000 dinars, according to Bassem Al-Zu'bi, on Monday.
Al-Zu'bi stated that the tender aimed at the old mosque for rehabilitation and restoring its historical essence by revealing the old stones using insulating materials, in addition to refurbishing the pulpit and mihrab to match the heritage character of the mosque, according to Al-Mamlaka.
Al-Zu'bi added that the mosque was established in 1936 during the Emirate era, the construction continued for three years, and it was inaugurated in 1939, named Hashimi as a homage to the Hashemite family and the late King Abdullah I
Al-Zu'bi pointed out that the directorate formed three volunteer teams to help reduce the phenomenon of random waste disposal, organizing a weekly campaign for this purpose.
Al-Zu'bi noted that there are approximately 405 mosques in the governorate of Jerash.
