Do you feel disconnected from reality Here are the shocking reasons

Khaberni - The term "dissipation" or disconnection from reality has turned into a popular hashtag across social media platforms with approximately 113,000 posts, as expressions of daily stress blend with precise medical diagnoses.

The current digital reality indicates a widespread use of these psychological terms in ordinary situations, such as facing traffic congestion or feeling boredom, raising questions about the boundary between natural absentmindedness and pathological disorder.

The medical terms are expanding in the digital space
According to "Metro", a large segment of today's generation uses terms like "dissipation" or "disconnection" to describe states of exhaustion, but official statistics in the United Kingdom show that those actually suffering from dissociative disorders do not exceed 1% to 3% of the population.

This contradiction reveals a huge gap between turning serious psychological disorders into "cartoon jokes" and entertainment content for amusement, and the harsh medical reality of clinical symptoms, like amnesia or identity disorder (previously known as multiple personality disorder).

The spectrum of disconnection between normal and pathological
Neurology and psychiatry experts at "Harvard" explain that disconnection operates on a broad spectrum, where most humans experience a "standard" type of it when engrossed in a book or driving a car unaware of the journey.

The contradiction lies in the fact that the mind uses this mechanism as a shield to face pressures or even boredom, but its continuation and transformation into an uncontrollable reaction moves the individual from the zone of "mind wandering" to the realm of complex disorder that impedes normal life functioning.

Distinguishing between anxiety, depression, and disconnection
Medical metaphors highlight a fundamental difference between the three pathological terms; while anxiety represents holding the steering wheel with trembling hands, depression is wishing you weren't on the road at all, and disconnection or dissociation is the feeling that you are sitting in the back seat watching someone else drive instead of you.

This actually means the need to stop misusing medical terms in humorous contexts, and to be aware that feeling temporarily disconnected is a natural human reaction for resilience, which should not cause concern unless a person starts feeling continually and painfully alienated from their body or environment.

Individuals also need to practice "linguistic awareness" by distinguishing between transient fatigue and clinical disorder to protect the rights of actual patients in receiving serious recognition for their suffering, away from the noise of "trends".
