Khaberni - Prime Minister Jafar Hassan met at the prime ministry on Sunday with representatives of international maritime, shipping, and logistics companies, to discuss the state of supply chains and logistics and ways to reduce the costs of transport and shipping in light of developments in the region and their implications for trade and supplies.
The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of the role played by the sector of international maritime, shipping, and logistics companies in ensuring the smooth flow of goods and enhancing the kingdom’s ability to tackle any challenges that may arise in supply chains, emphasizing the government's commitment to work in coordination with the private sector and take necessary actions to ensure the enhancement of a strategic stockpile of essential goods and energy in a sufficient and sustainable manner.
The Prime Minister referred to the decisions recently taken by the government in this regard, which are part of a proactive approach to dealing with regional challenges and ensuring the adequate and sustainable provision of goods and energy.
For their part, representatives of international maritime, shipping, and logistics companies stressed the importance of the decisions made by the government regarding the facilitation of road transport and exemptions related to maritime shipping costs, noting that these decisions have a direct and significant impact on the speed of arrival of goods and the enhancement of the efficiency, diversity, and supply chains in the kingdom.
The meeting is part of the actions taken by the cabinet last week to deal with the repercussions of regional situations, which included temporarily allowing the import of containerized goods through land border crossings, in addition to exemptions related to the increase in maritime shipping costs, and measures to ensure the sustainability of supply and support for the strategic stockpile of essential goods and energy.
The meeting was attended by ministers of labor Nidal Qatamin, government communication Mohammad Al-Momani, industry and trade Yousef Al-Shamali, and state minister for economic affairs Mohand Shehadeh.
