Khaberni - The Jordan Chamber of Commerce called for an urgent and emergency meeting of the board of directors of the Union of Arab Chambers to discuss the implications of regional developments and how to cooperate and coordinate between the Arab private sector, and to stand united in addressing the crisis.
The chamber said in a letter sent to the president of the union, Samir Nass, that the kingdom is fully prepared to host the meeting if the union wishes, emphasizing that the prolonged war will affect the supply chains of oil and gas derivatives and basic materials.
The chamber highlighted that its call for the meeting comes in light of what the Arab region is undergoing and the repercussions of the cowardly targeting that Iran carried out against Jordan and several other brother Arab states, which included bombing some ports and airports and disrupting navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and this may extend to the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
The chamber suggested inviting government entities, especially those responsible for ports, borders, and land, sea, and air transport, to unify efforts between the public and private sectors in the Arab countries.
The chamber appreciated the efforts of the union, which is based in Beirut, for its diligent monitoring of events and its condemnation and rejection of the cowardly Iranian attacks on the territories and the airspace of the kingdom.
