Jordan Trade No Justification for Price Increases

Khaberni - The representative of the food sector in the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Jamal Amro, said on Friday that there is no justification for the price increase of any commodity, calling for a boycott of any commodity whose price rises unjustifiably, given that goods are reaching Jordan.

Amro added,  that the stock of goods is sufficient in the local market, amid traders importing very large quantities of goods for Ramadan.

Amro said: "In Ramadan, we import three times the ordinary months (...) everything is available", confirming that there are goods coming to Jordan.

Prime Minister Jafar Hassan held a meeting last Wednesday that included ministers and officials, during which plans and measures related to the sustainability of the strategic stockpile and supply chains, and energy security were reviewed, given the current regional circumstances.

Last Thursday, the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply, Yarub Al-Qudah, discussed with representatives of the food industry sector the operation of supply chains, and ensuring the sustainability of the strategic stockpile of basic commodities in the kingdom.

The Ministry of Agriculture stated in March that the purpose of resuming the importation of Syrian meats from Damascus is to enhance the strategic stockpile and maintain price stability in the local market.
