Injury of an Israeli officer and soldier during clashes in southern Lebanon

Khaberni - The Israeli military announced on Thursday evening an officer was seriously wounded and a soldier was moderately wounded during clashes in southern Lebanon.

The army said in a statement that the officer and the soldier were injured earlier on Thursday during combat operations in the area, noting that they were evacuated to a hospital to receive the necessary medical treatment.

The statement added that the families of the servicemen were informed about the incident.

Since Saturday, Israel and the United States have been conducting air strikes on Iran, which led to the killing of the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Since then, Tehran has responded by striking Israel and other countries in the region with rockets and drones.

Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the former Supreme Leader, is among the most prominent candidates to succeed him, being one of the most influential figures in Iran. Hassan Khomeini is also being considered as a potential successor to the position, but the American president Donald Trump says he wants to participate in selecting the next Iranian leader.

Following the death of the Supreme Leader, a transitional leadership council took over the administration of the country until the Assembly of Experts elects a permanent leader.

Iran targeted oil tankers and cargo ships trying to cross the Strait of Hormuz.

On Sunday, Hezbollah fired several rockets from Lebanon targeting northern Israel in response to the assassination of Khamenei, and drew Lebanon into an open war with Israel, where it conducted destructive raids on southern Lebanon and the southern suburbs of Beirut.
