Shoman Library introduces a new type of subscriptions for cultural institutions

Khaberni  - Recently, the Abdul Hameed Shoman Public Library introduced a new type of subscription called "Cultural Institutions Subscription", as part of its efforts to enhance reading access and spread knowledge across various provinces of the kingdom.

This subscription allows cultural institutions to borrow up to 200 books from the latest releases and collections of the public library, free of charge, aiming to support cultural activities and encourage reading among the patrons of these institutions.

The director of the public library at the institution, Nizar Al-Hamoud, pointed out that the Abdul Hameed Shoman Library provides a wide range of services designed to meet the needs of researchers, students, readers, and everyone seeking to enhance their knowledge, affirming that this subscription is part of the library's vision to expand access to knowledge sources and enhance the role of cultural institutions as active partners in building a reading community.

Al-Hamoud explained that the subscription conditions for this type of subscription at the library include that the institution must have an audience or patrons targeted with programs and activities that encourage reading and borrowing, noting that the ownership of the books remains with the Abdul Hameed Shoman Library, and they are handled according to the approved borrowing systems.

Since 1986, the Abdul Hameed Shoman Public Library has been a leading model for libraries in Jordan and the Arab world, being the first fully computerized and equipped public library established to be more than just a reading space; it is a vibrant center of cultural life and continuous learning.

The library includes hundreds of thousands of paper and digital books, scientific databases, study and reflection spaces, and specialized facilities, and is open to everyone over the age of 16. It is also disability-friendly, providing a fully equipped environment for them.

On the national level, Shoman Library has expanded to include branches in Amman (Jabal Amman, Ashrafieh, Muqabalein, Hussein Technical University), Zarqa, and Ma'an, in addition to partnerships and initiatives to support libraries in Jordan and Palestine.
