Khaberni - A recent scientific study has revealed that sperm movement changes throughout the year according to the seasons.
Researchers analyzed 15,581 semen samples from men aged between 18 and 45 from Denmark and the United States, collected between 2018 and 2024. The analyses were conducted according to standardized criteria using advanced computer systems to evaluate the semen.
The results showed that the concentration of actively moving sperm (capable of moving forward actively) was highest during June and July, while it was at its lowest in December and January. This seasonal pattern was observed in both the mild climate of Denmark and the subtropical climate of Florida.
The researchers also found that the total number of sperm or semen volume remained constant throughout the year, indicating that sperm production remains stable throughout the year, while sperm movement is affected by seasonal changes and variations, and importantly, these differences continued to appear even after taking into account the air temperature in the month of the sample was taken and the two previous months.
The researchers noted that the data obtained could be useful in assessing male fertility and planning reproduction processes, as this seasonal change indicates the need to consider the time of year when analyzing semen parameters.
