Khaberni - North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said his nuclear-armed country could completely destroy its southern neighbor if its security is threatened, reaffirming his refusal to engage in dialogue with Seoul.
According to official media reports today, Thursday, Kim kept the door open for dialogue with the United States, concluding the ruling Workers' Party conference that set his political goals for the next five years.
The North Korean leader also called for the development of new weapons systems to strengthen his nuclear army, including intercontinental ballistic missiles that can be launched from underwater, and expanding the arsenal of tactical nuclear weapons, such as artillery and short-range missiles targeted against South Korea.
He said that the rapid development of his nuclear and missile programs has "permanently entrenched" his country's status as a nuclear-armed state, and called on the United States to abandon what he described as "hostile" policies towards the North as a precondition for resuming long-stalled dialogue.
