Who are the winners and losers after Trumps new tariffs

Khaberni - The British "Financial Times" believes that the new global tariff, announced by U.S. President Donald Trump at 15%, will benefit countries that have been targeted by sharp criticism from the White House, such as China and Brazil, while traditional allies of the United States, such as the UK, the European Union, and Japan, will bear the greatest losses.

The newspaper, citing analysis by an independent body monitoring international trade, noted that Brazil will see the largest decrease in average customs tariffs imposed on it, followed by China, after both countries had previously been subjected to harsher tariffs under earlier policies.
According to the report, the new decision came after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that a large portion of the tariffs imposed by the Trump administration previously, based on the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, were illegal.

The report stated that Trump replaced those tariffs with a unified tariff of 10%, before raising it to 15%, to take effect soon, for 150 days awaiting Congress' approval.

The U.S. Trade Representative confirmed the continuation of investigations into trade practices considered unfair by Washington, which could pave the way for imposing additional tariffs on some countries.

Conversely, the report clarified that the traditional allies of the United States will be the most affected, due to their exports to the U.S. market depending on sectors such as steel, aluminum, and automobiles, which are already subject to existing tariffs.

European countries are demanding "full clarifications" regarding the future of U.S. trade policy, amid concerns about uncertainty that could affect investments and transatlantic trade.

The report views the new customs regime as opening a stage of uncertainty in U.S. trade policy, with a potential reshaping of global trade balances in the coming months.
