Khaberni - Dr. Radmir Akhmirov, a gynecological oncologist, warns that having multiple sexual partners increases the risk of infection with the human papillomavirus (HPV).
According to the doctor, the human papillomavirus (HPV) significantly increases the risk of several types of cancer, including throat cancer.
He added, "Human papillomavirus is no longer just a women’s issue. It not only poses a risk to the cervix, as many are aware, but is also associated with oropharyngeal cancer."
The doctor noted that the sixteenth strain of the human papillomavirus, which causes cancer, is primarily associated with throat cancer in both women and men.
Throat cancer ranks fifth in terms of prevalence among other types of cancer, and tumors located in the tonsils, base of the tongue, or soft palate pose a particularly high risk.
Dr. Akhmirov pointed out that vaccinating girls against human papillomavirus in a timely manner significantly reduces the risk of them developing cervical cancer in the future.
