Khaberni - The Foreign Affairs Committee in the House of Representatives, chaired by Representative Haytham Ziadin, condemned the statements made by the United States Ambassador to Israel, claiming "Israel’s acceptance of dominance over the entire Middle East region, in addition to the occupied West Bank."
Ziadin described the statements as "nonsensical and provocative", representing a glaring violation of diplomatic norms, and a direct infringement on the sovereignty of the region's countries, affirming that they constitute a serious breach of international law and the United Nations Charter, and are unequivocally contrary to the stated position of U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the rejection of the annexation of the West Bank.
The committee affirmed that the West Bank, including East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip, are "occupied Palestinian territories" according to international resolutions, emphasizing that the only path to achieving fair and comprehensive peace lies in ending the occupation and establishing an independent, sovereign Palestinian state on all the Palestinian territories occupied on the basis of the two-state solution.
Ziadin emphasized that such irresponsible statements hold no legal value or actual effect, but rather contribute to undermining peace efforts and fueling conflict in the region.
The committee called on the international community to unite efforts to stabilize Gaza and implement Security Council Resolution 2803, instead of engaging in escalatory positions that disregard the foundations of international legitimacy.
The committee concluded its statement by affirming that Jordan, led by its Hashemite leadership and legislative institutions, will remain steadfast in defending the legitimate Palestinian rights and the sovereignty and stability of the region's countries against any attempts to impose a new reality that transcends international law.
