Saudi ACWA Power to invest 2 billion in building two solar power plants in Turkey

Khaberni - Saudi "ACWA Power" announced signing an agreement with the Turkish company Ewach for electric power generation involving two projects in the provinces of Sivas and Karaman, with an investment valued at about $2 billion.

Under the agreement, "ACWA Power" will establish two solar power plants, each with a capacity of one thousand megawatts, with commercial operations starting at the beginning of 2028, according to a statement issued by the company.

The agreement was signed during a ceremony held in Istanbul in the presence of the Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alp Arslan Berqdär, within the framework of a governmental agreement between Turkey and Saudi Arabia to develop renewable energy projects.

Berqdär clarified on his official X platform account that the projects in Sivas and Taşlı in Karaman will provide electricity to about 2.1 million homes, with a stipulation that the local content of each project must be no less than 50%.

It is planned for the construction work to start in the first or second quarter of 2027, with power supply beginning by mid-2028, while a Turkish government company will purchase the electricity generated from the two plants for a period of 30 years.
