Khaberni - The Syrian General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport has taken over the management of Al-Qamishli Airport in Al-Hasakah Governorate, completing the terms of the agreement signed between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
The Authority stated in a statement on Saturday that a number of department directors at the Authority conducted a tour of the airport, where they viewed the operational, technical, and administrative situation, and discussed mechanisms for resuming its operation according to the highest international standards approved in the field of civil aviation.
The head of the Authority, Omar Al-Hasry, explained that taking over the management of Al-Qamishli Airport is "an important institutional step within the path of uniting the management of airports under the umbrella of the state, and ensuring their operation according to the highest international safety and efficiency standards."
Al-Hasry pointed out that in parallel with taking over Al-Qamishli Airport, rehabilitation work is continuing at a rapid pace at Deir ez-Zor Airport, where work is being done around the clock to restore operational readiness for both airports.
He added, "The goal is to resume operations at both Al-Qamishli and Deir ez-Zor Airports as soon as possible, to serve the citizens of those areas, and to enhance the stability and networking of the civil aviation sector across Syria."
A delegation from the Syrian Ministry of Interior, represented by the Internal Security Commander in Al-Hasakah Province, Brigadier General Marwan Al-Ali, and the Director of Airport and Port Security, Colonel Ahmad Al-Ahmad, held a meeting with the "SDF" on the eighth of this month, to discuss taking over the management of Al-Qamishli Airport.
