Khaberni - Statements by U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee ignited a storm of controversy and anger on social media platforms and in political circles, after he expressed during an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson an acceptance of the idea of Israel taking over all lands of the Middle East, based on Torah interpretations within the Christian nationalist stream in the United States.
During the conversation, Carlson claimed that a "text from the Old Testament" talks about a divine promise to Abraham for land stretching from the valley of Egypt to the River Euphrates, an area that he said includes large parts of Middle Eastern countries, including Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon, in addition to areas of Saudi Arabia and Iraq, according to the Guardian newspaper.
Despite Huckabee's reservations about the exact geographical extent, he acknowledged that the discussion was about a "large area of land", adding that Israel is a "land that God has granted to His chosen people", referring to the religious dimension that he relies on in his stance.
When Carlson explicitly asked him whether Israel has the right to take over those lands, he answered, "It would be acceptable if they took it all," a statement that many considered a reflection of an ideological orientation that transcends traditional political frameworks towards a religious doctrinal approach.
The interview occurred during a visit conducted by Carlson to Israel, during which he said he experienced "strange treatment" at Ben Gurion Airport, which Israeli and American officials denied, confirming that he underwent routine security procedures.
