Khaberni - The French authorities announced the death of the French soldier Alexander Lankbin due to a head injury from an accidental gunshot during a drunken evening with other soldiers inside a military barracks near the French capital.
The military governor of Paris, Loic Maison, confirmed Lankbin's death in a post on the X platform.
The Paris public prosecutor's office stated that the incident occurred on February 14 inside the Percy military hospital in Clamart near Paris, where a number of soldiers managed to obtain alcohol despite the ban at the site and consumed it throughout the evening.
During a game the soldiers were playing to test people's reactions, a shot was fired from a loaded pistol, hitting Lankbin in the head, and he was subsequently transported to the hospital before succumbing to his injuries.
Four soldiers have been detained in connection with the incident for investigation.
