Khaberni - Egyptian director Peter Mimi officially apologized for an "unintended" error that appeared in the opening credits of the first episode of the series "Landowners," airing during the Ramadan drama season of 2026.
Mimi, in a post on his Facebook account, admitted that the lyrics of the series' theme song "Yamma Moil El Hawa" were mistakenly attributed to Egyptian poet Ahmed Fouad Negm, while they were actually written by Palestinian poet Ahmed Dahbour, emphasizing that the mistake was "unintended".
The Egyptian series depicts the tragic situation in the Gaza Strip amid the brutal Israeli attacks targeting homes and hospitals, during the last war that lasted two years, starring Egyptian nurse Menna Shalabi and Palestinian young man Eyad Nassar.
The series theme song is performed by Egyptian singer Amir Eid and Palestinian Nay Barghouti.
Peter Mimi emphasized that what happened was unintentional, and that an apology had been made and it will be corrected in upcoming episodes to ensure the accuracy of attributing artistic works to their original creators.
He explained that poet Ahmed Fouad Negm had written different lyrics carrying the same opening for the play "The King is the King" by Syrian writer Saadallah Wannous when presenting its Egyptian version, performed by singer Mohamed Mounir.
Meanwhile, Nawara Negm, daughter of the late poet Ahmed Fouad Negm, clarified that the production company had reached out to use a song by her father in the series, and she thought the lyrics used were her father’s poem, but upon watching the credits, she discovered that the lyrics were not his, so she contacted the company and requested the removal of his name.
Producer Dina Karim stated that she has committed to coordinating with the director to correct the mistake, clarifying that the issue does not involve literary theft but was an unintended slip and that the creators have been vigilant from the start to respect intellectual property rights.
