Khaberni - A senior American official said that the American President Donald Trump's administration is considering a proposal allowing Iran "symbolic" nuclear enrichment, provided it does not open any possible path to developing a nuclear weapon. This step could represent a limited window to reach an agreement to prevent military escalation.
According to Axios, this direction comes at a time when direct military options, including targeting Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, were presented to Trump, reflecting an overlap between the diplomatic track and military pressure.
The official mentioned that any forthcoming Iranian proposal would face a high ceiling of conditions, as it must convince opponents of the agreement within the American administration and Washington's allies in the region. He confirmed that Trump is only ready for a substantial agreement that can be politically marketed domestically.
While the Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced that his country would finish preparing its nuclear proposal within days, American and Israeli officials reported that a U.S. military strike could be executed at any time, possibly during the weekend.
At a time when some of Trump's advisors called for patience, considering that enhancing military readiness increases American leverage, those close to the president acknowledged the lack of clarity in his final decision.
White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly said that President Trump alone knows what he might or might not do, amidst ongoing media speculation about his options towards Iran.
