Khaberni - The tragedy of an engineer at the Atomic Energy Authority in Egypt shook social media after some passersby discovered that the engineer was sleeping on a sidewalk in one of the streets of Giza province in the south of the country.
Social media erupted with the story of "Laila," the engineer specializing in nuclear science, who is 66 years old and was evicted from her apartment due to the greed of the property owner, finding herself homeless and without shelter on a sidewalk for more than 8 months.
Information revealed that the elderly engineer was living in an apartment under an old rental system, but a dispute arose between her and the property owner over the desire to increase the rental value, which ended with her eviction and physical assault by the property owner, in addition to losing her personal belongings and important documents.
According to the information, the "nuclear scientist" remained without shelter for 8 months, during which she slept on the sidewalk and faced the harshness of the street, amidst a state of astonishment and widespread popular sympathy.
In an initial official response, the Directorate of Social Solidarity in Giza took action to end this suffering.
Local media reported that the central rapid intervention team moved to the site, and dealt urgently with engineer Laila.
It was mentioned that full coordination was made to transfer the elderly engineer to "Dar al-Khair" associated with the Human Relations Association in Giza province, where the elderly engineer is scheduled to receive all necessary social, psychological, and health care.
