Khaberni - The Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities issued a statement on the video being circulated on social media platforms and some electronic news websites, which shows a brutal assault on a young person with disabilities.
The Council confirmed that it started following up on the incident as soon as the video began circulating, where the relevant security authorities and the public prosecutor of Irbid were notified to take necessary legal actions. The Council also noted that an investigation is currently underway by the concerned authorities to uncover the circumstances of the incident and to hold those responsible accountable according to the law.
The Council expresses its deep dismay at these shameful acts and pledges to persistently follow up on these perpetrators and others who commit violence against persons with disabilities until they receive their just punishment according to the law. The Council urges the necessity of reporting any cases of violence even if just suspected, and appeals to families not to waive personal rights under any circumstances in such cases.
