Khaberni - Mark Serea, a candidate for the presidency of Spanish club Barcelona, insists that Argentine legend Lionel Messi could contribute to completing the deal for signing Norwegian striker Erling Haaland.
Serea is among the candidates seeking the presidency of Barcelona in the elections to be held on March 15th.
Serea has repeatedly involved Messi, the Barcelona legend, in his campaign, believing he can leverage Messi’s influence to bring him back to Barça in a behind-the-scenes role once his career at Inter Miami ends.
Serea told the Spanish station "Cadena SER": "In the coming days we will explain the proposal that we have been working on for years to reconcile with Messi."
He added: "We know that Messi's future is linked to Barcelona.. He wants to heal the emotional wound with the club and become a strategic partner."
Last December, Serea said that reuniting Messi with his fans could generate huge commercial revenues up to 175 million British pounds.
It is noteworthy that this is the type of financial support that Barcelona would need if it is serious about pursuing Haaland, the Manchester City striker, a deal that the club and its fans dream of, as confirmed by several sources in the past period.
Regarding this, Serea said: "To contract Haaland, we must bring back Messi as a strategic partner."
The 25-year-old Norwegian player signed a 10-year contract with the City in 2025, under which he receives a fantastical sum of 500,000 British pounds weekly, excluding bonuses.
It is worth noting that the difficult financial conditions led to Messi's departure from Barcelona in 2021, and the club has become cautious in spending its money in recent years due to ongoing financial difficulties.
Currently, there are no indications that Haaland plans to leave the Etihad Stadium anytime soon.
