Reducing the penalty of assault by ElShennawy on the referee to a twomatch suspension

Khaberni - The Appeals Committee of the Egyptian Football Association decided on Sunday to reduce Mohamed El-Shennawy's penalty, the goalkeeper of Al Ahly, to two matches instead of four following his dismissal during the Ceramica Cleopatra match that took place in the first round of the championship group stage.

The Egyptian Football Association stated through its media center that the Appeals Committee, during its meeting, amended the decision of the Competitions Committee of the Egyptian Clubs Association regarding the player Mohamed El-Shennawy, so that his suspension will now be for two matches, while upholding the fine imposed on him.

It also added that the committee decided that the grievance submitted by the administrative director Walid Salah El-Din could not be considered, due to the expiration of the legal quorum and the endorsement of the Competitions Committee's decision regarding the fine imposed on Al Ahly club.

The Competitions Committee of the Egyptian Football Federation had previously decided to suspend Mohamed El-Shennawy for four matches following his dismissal after the Ceramica Cleopatra match due to "his assault on the referee by pushing or pulling", according to a statement from the Egyptian Professional Clubs Association at the time, and had also decided to fine him 2500 Egyptian pounds for receiving two warnings in the same match.

Al Ahly currently holds the third place in the championship group with 40 points, three points behind the leader Zamalek and Pyramids FC, who are in second place.
