Ramadan a Thoughtful Message Before a Worship Ritual
الكاتب: الدكتور زيد احمد المحيسن

Ramadan comes every year to remind humans of their primary truth: that they are beings capable of choice, of refining their desires, and of elevating above the physical necessities when consciousness elevates and the will awakens. Ramadan is not just a month in the calendar, but a comprehensive educational institution where worship intersects with ethics, and the spiritual dimension embraces the social aspect.
In fasting, humans learn discipline; they postpone their permissible needs in response to the call of faith. This conscious postponement is not deprivation, but training in desire management and building inner strength that protects them from blindly following passions. Thus, Ramadan serves as practical training in patience and a precise review of the human's relationship with themselves, helping them become more balanced and better able to make wise decisions.
The impact of Ramadan does not stop at the individual level but extends to society as a whole. When the rich feel hunger as the poor do, psychological distances between classes diminish, and the feeling of empathy becomes a lived reality, not just a raised slogan. From this meaning, values of social justice and solidarity emerge, where charities multiply, and the idea of collective responsibility is revived as a pillar of stability and cohesion.
On the Night of Decree, the value of time is manifested in its finest form; a single night transforms into a space of enhanced impact and meaning, training the soul to recognize that a moment can change destiny, and that sincere effort is not measured by its length, but by its depth and dedication. It is a thoughtful message before being a ritual of worship, reminding humans that their lifetime is their true capital.
When the month concludes with
Eid al-Fitr, the joy is not a detachment from the spirit of worship, but an extension of it. Discipline yields joy, obedience leads to tranquility, and a society that shares suffering also shares happiness. Thus, Eid becomes a symbolic declaration of the triumph of the will and a renewal of commitments to values.
Ramadan, in essence, is an annual human development project; it rearranges priorities, reminds us that morals are the foundation of civilization, and that justice is a value without which a stable life cannot exist. It is a month that reconnects what has been severed between the spirit and the deed, between faith and behavior, allowing individuals to emerge more aware of themselves, and better able to contribute positively to public affairs.
In this sense, Ramadan is not just a fleeting time, but a major review station and a moral compass that directs both individuals and society towards more wisdom, mercy, and balance.
