Syria Hassan AlAtrash Explains Reasons for Leaving Sweida

Khaberni - Amir Dara Ar in Sweida, Hassan Al-Atrash appeared in a video clip from one of the squares of Damascus, clarifying the reasons for his departure from Sweida in the past few days.
Al-Atrash said in the recorded video, which was the first since the Syrian security facilitated his departure a few days ago from his home in the countryside of Sweida, that his actions were aimed at "fortifying the mountain and preventing bloodshed, and not to submit to anyone or negotiate anyone's dignity."
He added: "I left to prevent a conspiracy that was being plotted in secret, aiming at eliminating me and my family. Whoever does not comprehend the danger of the moment should introspect before reviewing my actions."

He emphasized that the Al-Atrash family remains committed to the testament of Sultan Pasha Al-Atrash "who unified Syria and the Syrians" under the motto "Religion belongs to God and the homeland to all," asserting that they were "never traitors", and considering that those implying otherwise are trying to "ignite a noxious fire."

Al-Atrash affirmed that he was "prepared to endure personal harm", but he also emphasized that he would not allow "the mountain to turn into a bloodbath because of rash acts or narrow calculations that would have plunged us into a cycle of vengeance," where the loser would be "the entire mountain".

Al-Atrash did not reveal details of the entities or individuals who he said were planning to assassinate him to ignite strife, justifying this by saying that the timing was not appropriate and stating: "Some truths, if spoken at the wrong time, turn into fuel for chaos. Those betting on strife will find out that the mountain is stronger than their expectations."

He concluded his recording by saying: "Today we are present in Damascus and will not leave Syria, adhering to our Syrian Arab identity and our national affiliation with this land, and we will find solutions within Syria to ensure the unity of the people and the fate and dignity of our kin."
The Syrian security had facilitated last Monday, the departure of Al-Atrash and his family from their home in the countryside of Sweida, towards the governorate of Daraa and from there to the capital Damascus.

Al-Atrash's departure from Sweida comes at a time when Sheikh Al-Aql Hikmat Al-Hajari and what is known as the "National Guard" associated with him control large parts of the province, including the village of Ar, where Dara Ar is located, within efforts to establish what is called "the state of Bashan" in Sweida with support from Israel, according to opponents of this movement. This comes after his rejection of the "roadmap" announced from Damascus with American and Jordanian support in September of last year to resolve the crisis of Sweida, as well as subsequent initiatives for a solution launched by the governor of Sweida, Mustafa Al-Bakour.

Prince Hassan enjoys significant social status in Sweida and plays a prominent role in the local social and political scene, as he is one of the descendants of the leader of the Great Syrian Revolution Sultan Pasha Al-Atrash, which erupted against French colonialism in the 1920s.

Prince Hassan had previously strongly supported the leadership and the Syrian government following the overthrow of Bashar Al-Assad's regime on December 8, 2024.
