Khaberni - The American news site «Axios» revealed that President Donald Trump's administration is planning to launch a «major war» soon against Iran with the participation of Israel.
A joint American-Israeli campaign
Sources reported that the American move against Iran will most likely be a «massive military campaign lasting weeks, and will seem more like a total war than the precise operation that took place last month in Venezuela, which resulted in the arrest of President Nicolas Maduro and his wife.
According to sources, the anticipated war will most likely be a «joint American-Israeli campaign», but it will be «broader in scope and more impactful on the regime than the 12-day war» led by Israel in last June, which the United States later joined to bomb underground nuclear facilities in Iran.
The American site warned that this war will have a severe impact on the entire region, and serious repercussions for the remaining three years of President Donald Trump's presidency.
Maximum pressure
Israel seeks a scenario of maximum pressure targeting regime change in Dhahran, and nuclear and missile programs, and is preparing for a war scenario «within days», according to Israeli officials. However, American sources informed «Axios», that the United States might need more time.
Meanwhile, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said that strikes on Iran «may take weeks», but others say the timeline could be shorter.
One of Trump’s advisors was quoted by the site saying: «The president is beginning to feel uneasy». Some of his close associates warn him against waging a war with Iran, but I believe there is a 90% chance we will witness military action in the coming weeks.
Diplomatic agreement unattainable
It is worth mentioning that Trump has repeatedly threatened to strike Iran militarily in early January in response to the killing of thousands of demonstrators in unprecedented protests, but his administration shifted to a negotiation approach accompanied by substantial military enhancement.
With negotiations proceeding slowly and resorting to this significant degree of military deployment, Trump has raised expectations about any attack in case a diplomatic agreement is unattainable.
According to «Axios», reaching an agreement at this point seems unlikely, as Iran sticks to limiting negotiations to its nuclear program, while the United States wants it to also include the missile program and support for Tehran’s proxies in the region.
Deployment of the American fleet
In the past few days, the American fleet in the Middle East has expanded to include two aircraft carriers, dozens of warships, hundreds of fighter jets, and multiple air defense systems, while part of this force is still en route to the region.
More than 150 American flights transported military shipments of weapons systems and ammunition to the Middle East, and in the last 24 hours alone, 50 more fighter jets, including «F-35», «F-22», and «F-16», headed to the region.
