Arab Bank renews its support for the Sembela initiative

Khaberni - Arab Bank has renewed its support for the "Sembela" initiative, which is implemented by Al Joud Foundation for Scientific Care in cooperation with the Ministry of Education. The initiative aims to enhance the culture of creativity and social entrepreneurship within public schools across the kingdom. This renewal continues the support the bank has provided to the initiative since 2020, reaffirming its ongoing commitment to supporting the education sector and enhancing the educational environment, and boosting the role of schools as a key driver of community development.

The initiative focuses on applying a practical methodology that enables teachers and students to transform school challenges into executable initiatives through the development of systematic thinking skills and collaborative action. It also encourages the utilization of available resources and spaces within schools to launch sustainable service projects that improve the educational environment and strengthen the school's connection to the local community.

Mr. Maher Kaddoura, the director of Al Joud Foundation, expressed his pride in the continued collaboration with Arab Bank, praising the positive impact the initiative has had over the past years. He emphasized the importance of this cooperation in enhancing the capabilities of teachers and providing them with skills through various awareness and training sessions held by specialists and trainers, in addition to training them on the "Sembela" methodology for developing and implementing initiatives effectively and with tangible impact. The initiative also reflects on improving school facilities and developing safer educational spaces, alongside implementing projects supportive of active learning, which serve the students and enhance their spirit of initiative.

The "Sembela" initiative has seen active participation from educational staff and local communities, having implemented over 4,000 school projects benefiting more than 800,000 students since its launch until the previous session. The number of schools participating has reached more than 2,200 public schools. Also, over 8,000 teachers have been trained on the initiative's methodology, and more than 35,000 certificates have been awarded to teachers who participated in lifeskills sessions, which equipped them with the ability to turn challenges into executable projects. Kaddoura mentioned that the initiative will expand in its 2026 session by continuing to train teachers on the "Sembela" methodology, contributing to the development of sustainable initiatives within schools and in cooperation with the local community.

It is worth noting that Arab Bank adopts a comprehensive and integrated strategy on sustainability and community responsibility, reflecting the bank's commitment to enhancing its economic, social, and environmental impact by working closely with various stakeholders towards achieving sustainable development. The Arab Bank's community responsibility program "Together", is one of the fruits of this approach, a multifaceted program that focuses on developing and nurturing different aspects of society through various initiatives and activities that serve several sectors including health, poverty alleviation, environmental protection, education, orphan support, and women empowerment.
