Khaberni - The Greater Amman Municipality confirmed on Wednesday the start of the implementation of the Cabinet's decision to grant a 30% discount on the value of traffic violations due before February 17, 2026, for those who pay the due violations within 60 days.
A source in the municipality said that the specialized teams began this morning to reflect the discount granted by the government, which amounts to 30% of the total value of the violations, provided they are paid within 60 days.
The source explained that the discount would gradually appear on the violations, emphasizing the municipality's commitment to completing the procedures as quickly as possible, allowing citizens to benefit from the decision within the specified period.
Additional discounts after the system is approved
In relation to the project system for enhancing traffic safety and encouraging incentives for drivers for the year 2026, the source indicated that once it comes into effect, the violator will be granted a 30% discount on the value of the violation if paid within 30 days from the date of committing it, and a 20% discount if paid within 90 days.
The Cabinet had approved the reasons for the system project and referred it to the Legislation and Opinion Bureau to complete the procedures for its approval according to the norm.
The project system aims to incentivize drivers to comply with the traffic law through continuous incentives and discounts, whether by not committing violations or by early payment of their value, which contributes to enhancing safety on the roads and reducing accidents.
Incentives for non-violators and exceptions for severe violations
Under the project, a driver who goes a full year without committing any violation will be granted a 25% discount on the annual acquisition fee due.
The system also exempts serious violations from discounts, due to their danger, including: reckless driving, running a red light, causing traffic accidents, fleeing the scene of an accident, tampering with vehicle number plates, and violations that result in causing a human death or causing permanent disability.
The project, according to the source, offers an opportunity to ease the burden on drivers, reduce the accumulation of violations, and facilitate vehicle licensing procedures within the legal periods.
