Khaberni - In a human-centric interview dominated by family details, Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan talks about his long artistic journey, personal challenges, and the influence of his family, particularly his three children, Aryan, Suhana, and Abram, on his humility and continuous inspiration. He also discusses his experience voicing the character "Mufasa" in the modern version of "The Lion King" for Disney Cruise Line, highlighting the deep connection between artistic legacy and family values.
Eight years ago, Shahrukh Khan faced a professional challenge with the critical failure of the film "Zero" in 2018, prompting him to take a break from acting. This period, extended by several years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, was an opportunity for him to reconnect with his children and recharge his creative energy.
Shahrukh Khan says in an interview with "Indian Express": "My children are my best critics. My family reminds me of what's essential and keeps me humble regardless of my professional achievements. Legacy is not only measured by works but also by the values and memories I share with my family."
Artistic Family
The collaboration between Shahrukh Khan and his children goes beyond daily life, extending to the artistic field, where his son Aryan voiced "Simba," while Shahrukh voiced "Mufasa" in the same film, making family collaboration a distinct cinematic experience.
Shahrukh Khan adds: "Working with my children in voice-over is a lot of fun, as it develops different skills and allows us to interact on a new creative level. Though I taught them the basics of the profession, they opened up new prospects for me with their curiosity and innovation."
Exploring the Self
After six years since Aryan appeared in The Lion King series, he launched his first directorial venture with the movie "Bollywood Villains," while Suhana is getting ready to appear alongside her father in the anticipated film "King." Shahrukh Khan says: "I am grateful to see them continue to explore their interests with confidence and to have their own voice."
The Sea and Humility
Shahrukh Khan recalls his feelings of alienation when he moved to Mumbai and how the sea was his calm companion during those moments, saying: "Standing by the water gave me a sense of certainty and hope, and this feeling remains engraved in my memory."
Today, Shahrukh Khan lives in his palace "Mannat" overlooking the Arabian Sea, where he connects his great ambition with his sense of humility in the face of the universe's vastness, adding: "The sea reminds you that there are things greater than yourself, and this balance has accompanied me throughout my career."
He concludes his talk by describing the experience of voicing Mufasa aboard the Disney Adventure ship as "a great and intimate moment at the same time, I feel as if I am sharing a part of my life with the guests, just as I do with my family."
