80 countries and organizations condemn Israeli decisions and actions aimed at expanding presence in the West Bank

Khaberni - On Tuesday, 80 countries and organizations condemned the unilateral Israeli decisions and actions aimed at expanding Israel's illegal presence in the West Bank.

In a statement read by the Permanent Observer for the State of Palestine, Riyad Mansour, on behalf of 80 countries and international organizations during a press conference held at the United Nations headquarters in New York, it was stated that these decisions contravene Israel's obligations under international law and should be immediately reversed, confirming their strong opposition to any form of annexation.

The statement reiterated their rejection of all measures aimed at changing the demographic composition, character, and legal status of the occupied Palestinian territory since 1967, including East Jerusalem.

It was said that such actions constitute a violation of international law, undermine ongoing efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region, conflict with the comprehensive plan, and threaten the chances of reaching a peace agreement that would end the conflict.

The declaration renewed a commitment, as stated in the New York Declaration, to take concrete measures in accordance with international law, in line with relevant United Nations resolutions, and the advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice dated July 19, 2024, to assist in achieving the Palestinian people's right to self-determination, and address the illegal settlement policy in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem, as well as policies and threats of forced displacement and annexation.

It emphasized that achieving a just and lasting peace based on relevant United Nations resolutions, the Madrid references, including the land-for-peace principle, the Arab Peace Initiative, ending the Israeli occupation that began in 1967, and implementing the two-state solution, where two democratic states, an independent and sovereign Palestine, and Israel, live side by side in peace and security within recognized and secure borders based on the 1967 lines, including regarding Jerusalem, remains the only path capable of ensuring security and stability in the region.
