Trap in the form of a USB flash drive This is how your data is stolen with a single click

Khaberni - Security experts have issued a warning related to computer users about the danger of connecting unknown USB units which might appear like a regular flash but are in reality advanced hacking devices that can steal data or execute malicious commands when connected to any device.

These devices often bear strange logos or unfamiliar symbols instead of a well-known company name, which raises suspicion and calls for extreme caution.

Malignant USB Units
Not all USB units are as safe as they appear. There is a type of device known as USB Rubber Ducky, which looks like a regular USB flash drive, but is actually an advanced electronic attack tool.

When connected to a computer, it does not function to store or transfer data, but acts as a fake keyboard sending automatic commands to the system, such as opening windows or installing malicious software.

This kind of attack exploits what is known as the BadUSB attack, where the device is reprogrammed to appear trustworthy within the system, then it carries out malicious commands that are hard to detect by traditional protection software.

How does it work?
When a malignant USB unit is connected, the operating system recognizes it just like any ordinary USB device.

However, it begins to execute a series of automatic commands such as opening the system command window, downloading malicious software from the internet, installing spyware or data theft software, and disabling protection software.

Once these commands are executed, the computer might be compromised before the user realizes anything unusual.

Identifying malignant units
Often, it is difficult to identify malignant USB units just by looking at them, but there are several warning signs such as unknown logos or unfamiliar symbols on the device, or finding the USB in a public place.

Such devices are often used in scams or cyber attacks to lure users and take control of their devices.

Tips to protect your device
To protect your computer and data from this type of attack, it is important not to connect any unidentified USB units to any device. If you find a USB memory in public places or if it is given to you as a gift or reward, also avoid connecting it, and use modern protection software that can detect abnormal device behavior.

In professional environments or companies, policies should be activated to prevent the connection of unauthorized USB devices.

These simple tips can save your device from falling into the trap of malicious software that spreads through disguised USB units.
