Khaberni - The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories, Head of the Higher Council of Fatwa Muhammad Hussein, announced this Tuesday evening that tomorrow, Wednesday, is the first day of the blessed month of Ramadan in Palestine.
The Mufti stated in a statement, during the meeting held by the Dar Al-Ifta in Al-Aqsa Mosque, to monitor the sighting of the Hilal (crescent) of Ramadan, attended by a gathering of religious scholars, official and popular figures of significance and considering the astronomical forecasts from inside and outside Palestine, for the birth of the Hilal (crescent) of Ramadan and the possibilities of its sighting, the religiously legitimate sighting of the Hilal (crescent) of Ramadan has been confirmed tonight, hence, tomorrow Wednesday, February 18, 2026, will be the first of the blessed month of Ramadan for this year, 1447 Hijri.
The Mufti congratulated the Muslims in the East and West, and our Palestinian people at home and in the diaspora, on the advent of this blessed month, and also congratulated the Palestinian leadership, headed by the President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas, on the arrival of this blessed month, praying to Allah Almighty to make it a month of goodness, mercy, and forgiveness, to accept our martyrs in the highest place, to facilitate the imminent relief for our brave prisoners, and to protect our Jerusalem and our Al-Aqsa from the mischief of the mischievous.
