AlJaghbir Announces Completion of Funding for 100 MW Solar Power Project

Khaberni - Engineer Fathi Al-Jaghbir, president of both the Amman and Jordan Chambers of Industry, confirmed that the Al-Shams Renewable Energy Company project is a pioneering national model in joint industrial activity, announcing the completion of the required funding to execute the project, during the company's general assembly meeting held at the chamber's headquarters with the presence of representatives from 63 industrial companies.

Al-Jaghbir explained that Al-Shams Company was established under the chamber’s umbrella to undertake a solar energy project with a capacity of 100 megawatts, benefitting 63 industrial companies representing various sub-industrial sectors, thereby enhancing their competitiveness and reducing production costs. This is expected to positively reflect on increasing industrial exports, expanding business size, and providing new job opportunities for Jordanians.

He pointed out that this project is the first of its kind in the kingdom in terms of a mechanism for assembling industrial companies within a single renewable energy project, reflecting a high level of institutional and collaborative work in the industrial sector. He added that the chamber has worked since the inception of the idea to complete all necessary approvals, including the electrical connection approvals and the allocation of a 2000-dunum land parcel from state lands for the project.

He affirmed that the success of Al-Shams project would be a strategic step paving the way for launching similar projects in the future, contributing to the sustainability of the industrial sector and reducing its dependence on conventional energy sources, thereby serving the national economy and enhancing the stature of Jordanian industry regionally and internationally.

For his part, Engineer Abdullah Al-Shawabkeh, president of the board of directors of Al-Shams company, affirmed that the announcement of the completion of funding represents a pivotal moment in the project's trajectory, where an agreement has been signed with a Jordanian industrial company to execute the works, meaning the transition to the actual implementation stage after completing procedural and financial aspects.
Adding that the significant support provided by the chamber and its diligent tracking of various project stages, leading to the completion of funding and the company’s full readiness to begin implementation, contributed to the project's success, expressing hope that the project would serve as a model for more future projects.
