Diet in Ramadan Discipline versus Dietary Temptations

Khaberni - Ramadan represents a true opportunity to reorganize dietary habits, yet adhering to a diet during it requires awareness and meticulous planning to avoid falling into random eating patterns that could negate the health benefits of fasting. Between the periods of breaking the fast and the pre-dawn meal, meal timings change and temptations increase, making discipline a challenge more linked to behavior than to food deprivation.

A successful commitment to a diet in Ramadan doesn't mean excessively reducing quantities or ignoring the body's needs; instead, it is based on achieving a well-thought-out balance between nutrients. This starts with a light, gradual meal that replenishes the body's energy without overburdening the digestive system, followed by a main meal containing moderate proteins, vegetables, and complex carbohydrates in calculated amounts. The pre-dawn meal also plays a fundamental role in maintaining energy levels throughout the fasting hours and should ideally include foods rich in fiber and protein to reduce feelings of hunger.

Among the major challenges in this month are excessive sweets and fried foods, which are linked to Ramadan traditions but can hinder any diet plan if not consumed in moderation. Therefore, success depends on controlling portions, regulating meal times, and ensuring adequate water intake between breaking the fast and the pre-dawn meal. Additionally, incorporating light physical activity after breaking the fast supports diet goals and improves metabolism.
