Israel Prevents the Waqf from Preparing AlAqsa Mosque for Ramadan

Khaberni - The Jerusalem governorate said that the Israeli occupation authorities are preventing the implementation of logistical plans for receiving worshippers at the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and have issued more than 250 expulsion orders from the Noble Sanctuary, in an attempt to impose unilateral facts that contradict the existing historical and legal situation.

On Monday, the governorate emphasized that all occupation measures in Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites are null and void and illegitimate according to international law and relevant international legitimacy resolutions.

The governorate added that the occupation continues its crackdown on the employees of the Islamic Waqf Department, where about 25 employees were expelled and 4 were arrested, in an attempt to weaken the department's ability to manage the mosque's affairs and organize religious activities. Additionally, the occupation prevents the Waqf from implementing various preparations for the reception of Ramadan, which includes installing shades to protect against the sun or rain, setting up temporary field clinics, and other necessary logistical arrangements to ensure that worship proceeds normally.

In a further escalation, the so-called "Temple Mount" extremist religious school announced the extension of the morning raid hours at Al-Aqsa Mosque, to start from 6:30 AM until 11:30 AM, which adds an additional hour to the usual raid period. This comes just one week after the "Temple organizations" sent an urgent letter to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, demanding "ensuring Israeli sovereignty and the freedom of worship for Jews on the Temple Mount during the month of Ramadan."

Meanwhile, the occupation police postponed a decision regarding the incursions of the last ten days until evaluating the reactions to the measures implemented at the beginning of the month.

According to the data documented by the governorate, the occupation's plan for the month of Ramadan includes imposing strict restrictions on the entry of Palestinians from the West Bank governorates into Jerusalem, especially on Fridays, with a ceiling not exceeding 10,000 worshippers, and includes conditions on age groups, allowing men over 55 years old and women over 50 years old, with prior approvals.

The Jerusalem governorate confirmed that these measures constitute a new link in the systematic policy of tightening, calling on the Palestinian people, especially the Palestinians of the 48 territories, to continue to travel and camp out and populate Al-Aqsa Mosque, in support of the steadfastness of Jerusalem and its people in the face of attempts at displacement and Judaization.

The international community was urged to actively intervene to stop provocative occupation policies, emphasizing that history proves that the occupation escalates whenever it feels a weak response, which calls for a firm international stance to protect the legal and historical status of Al-Aqsa Mosque and maintain stability in Jerusalem.
