Chatbot Helps Man Reduce About 163000 from Hospital Bill

Khaberni - An American man used an AI-based chat chatbot to reduce a hefty hospital bill by more than 80%.

The hospital had issued the man a bill for $195,000 for four hours of intensive care after his brother-in-law suffered a heart attack.

However, after detailed analysis and negotiation with the help of the chatbot "Claude," developed by the AI company "Anthropic," the man managed to reduce the amount to only $32,000, according to a report by "Business Insider".

The man, who is known as "nthmonkey" on the Threads platform, said that the hospital bill was filled with vague and unclear charges.

The validity of his brother-in-law's health insurance had expired two months before he suffered the heart attack, causing the family to bear the full costs.

After receiving the hospital bill, the man noticed something unusual, so he decided to challenge the bill with the help of the chatbot "Claude".

The chatbot helped the man analyze the details of the hospital bill, discovering significant discrepancies, including double charges for the same procedure and the use of incorrect billing codes.

With the help of the chatbot, the man wrote strongly worded letters to the hospital, highlighting these errors and threatening legal action if they were not corrected.

Ultimately, the hospital agreed to reduce the amount by $163,000 from $195,000.

The man praised the chatbot "Claude" not only for discovering these errors but also for helping him draft clear and professional responses that strengthened his position.

Many have expressed admiration for the capabilities of AI tools like "Claude" and "ChatGPT" in dealing with complex systems, from understanding medical bills to challenging unfair charges.
