These reports come at a sensitive time for the English club, facing escalating public pressure and harsh political criticism from Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the financial partner and head of sports operations. The latest came from Manchester's Mayor, Andy Burnham, concerning Ratcliffe's recent statements on economic and social issues in Britain.
The Glazer family still retains the majority stake, while Jim Ratcliffe (INEOS company) owns about 27.7% and manages the sports side.
Despite Musk describing his interest in 2022 as an "ongoing joke," his father Errol Musk recently stated that his son is still monitoring investment opportunities in the English league, hinting at clubs like Liverpool and Manchester United.
