The second in days A boat carrying 16 Sudanese sinks in the White Nile

Khaberni  - A boat carrying 16 Sudanese sank in the Wad Al-Zaki region of White Nile state, this Saturday morning, leading to 12 people missing, while local teams of residents and police initiated search operations at the scene.

Activists on social media have broadcast pictures and videos showing the deployment of small boats in the river to comb the area, and extensive participation of volunteers in the rescue efforts, while dozens of residents gathered on the banks of the Nile to follow the search operations.

According to local accounts, all the passengers of the ill-fated boat were from the village of Wad Al-Jetrah, and the incident occurred under circumstances that are still unclear.

Today's incident follows the sinking of a ferry in the River Nile State in northern Sudan last Wednesday, which, according to local authorities, resulted in the death of 21 people and the recovery of their bodies, while estimates by the "Sudan Doctors Network" indicate that the number of victims exceeded 27 people, including women, children, and the elderly, in the Taiba Al-Khwad area in the locality of Shendi, where the ferry was carrying about 30 passengers.
