Khaberni - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said today, Saturday, that Israel continues its violations of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, calling for the removal of all Israeli obstacles to implementing the second phase of the agreement, and enabling the national committee to manage the sector.
In a speech delivered on his behalf by Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa at the opening of the 39th annual summit of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Abbas emphasized the need to remove the barriers imposed by the occupation to implement the arrangements related to the second phase of the agreement, including the work of the national committee for managing Gaza, to ensure the continuity of services and the organization of humanitarian efforts and early recovery.
The Palestinian President stressed that Israel "has killed more than 500 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip since the ceasefire began and until today, which threatens the sustainability of the ceasefire and undermines the implementation of its second phase."
In mid-January, the United States announced the transition to the second phase of President Donald Trump's plan to end the war in the Gaza Strip, which stipulates the gradual withdrawal of the Israeli army from the sector, disarmament, and the formation of a technocratic administration, and reconstruction.
Accelerating Processing
In its part, the national committee for managing Gaza stated that the statements from within the Gaza Strip regarding the readiness to hand over the institutions pave the way for managing the transitional phase.
The committee called on mediators and all parties to expedite the resolution of outstanding issues promptly and described the preparation for an organized transition as a real opportunity to stop the humanitarian deterioration.
It affirmed that its priority is to ensure the unimpeded flow of aid and the launch of the reconstruction process.
Breaches and Statistics
Since the ceasefire agreement in Gaza came into effect in October last year, daily Israeli breaches have not ceased, which reached 1620 breaches represented by bombings, raids, targeting, and demolition, resulting in the martyrdom of 591 Palestinians, and injuring thousands of others, according to statistics from the Ministry of Health and the governmental media office in Gaza.
These statistics recorded 604 operations of bombing and direct targeting, 430 shooting operations, including direct sniping, bullets, drones, and vehicles, and the occupation carried out 200 operations of demolition and explosion of homes and buildings.
The statistics clarified that 96% of the martyrs were targeted away from the yellow line, and those who were martyred along the yellow line constituted only 4%.
