Washington Intends to Provide One Billion Dollars to Support Peace Council Projects in Gaza

Khaberni - The "New York Times" reported, citing officials in the U.S. administration, that the United States has allocated an amount exceeding one billion dollars to fund the activities and projects managed by the "Peace Council" in the Gaza Strip.

This move is part of a global vision aimed at creating a permanent environment for stability and facilitating reconstruction processes, by providing the necessary financial cover for institutions overseeing the transitional phase in the Strip.

Distribution of financial resources and funding for the "Stability Force"
The officials clarified that these financial commitments would be directed towards two main pathways; the first involves funding urgent humanitarian needs and the essential infrastructure that the Peace Council relies on.

The second pathway involves allocating a budget for the formation and deployment of an "International Stability Force" in the areas of the Strip.

The tasks of this force include securing relief corridors, protecting aid convoys, and providing the necessary security environment to start implementing major reconstruction projects without field obstacles.

Diplomatic coordination with donor countries
The newspaper quoted an official in the White House stating that the administration of President Donald Trump is currently leading a diplomatic campaign to urge other donor countries to make similar financial pledges.

Through these actions, Washington aims to broaden the base of international participation so that funding is not limited to the American side alone, thus enhancing the prospects for sustainability of the projects supervised by the "Peace Council" and reducing financial burdens on a single party.

Goals of the plan and implementation mechanisms
Leaks suggest that the ultimate goal of these fundings is to link the flow of money to achieving tangible results on the aspects of security and civil administration.

Funding the International Stability Force is a cornerstone in this strategy, as it is seen as a tool to separate political aspects from developmental aspects.

It is expected that the coming weeks will reveal more details about the identity of the countries participating in that force, in addition to the timeline for disbursing the financial installments related to the reconstruction projects that the Council will undertake in cooperation with international partners.
