Telecommunications Authority Artificial Intelligence Opens New Horizons for Service Development

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority hosted on Thursday a specialized training program on Artificial Intelligence and Communications, in cooperation with the GSMA Association, with broad participation of experts and specialists from Jordan, Iraq, Syria, and Palestine.

The Deputy Chairman of the Commission’s Board, Nayel Adwan, confirmed in his speech during the opening that organizing this program is in line with the Authority's vision to keep up with global developments in the telecommunications sector and to enhance international cooperation with leading institutions like the GSMA Association.

Adwan explained that Artificial Intelligence has become today one of the most prominent technological innovations affecting the mobile communications sector, as it opens broad horizons for service development, enhances operational efficiency, and improves cybersecurity, in addition to supporting the digital transformation journey, which is a fundamental pillar for economic and social growth.

On his part, Jawad Abbassi, Head of the Middle East and North Africa region at the Association, stated: "Cooperation with the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority reflects Jordan's commitment to enhancing digital innovation and developing national skills in the field of communications, and Artificial Intelligence today represents a fundamental pillar in building the future of communications. We at GSMA believe that such training programs contribute to empowering operators and decision-makers to adopt the latest technological solutions, which enhances the sector's competitiveness and serves sustainable development."

The workshop program includes specialized sessions that address various practical and regulatory aspects of Artificial Intelligence in the communications sector and showcase the latest technical applications that contribute to improving network management and developing digital services while discussing cybersecurity challenges and how to employ Artificial Intelligence in monitoring digital threats and responding to them effectively. The program also covers policies and regulatory frameworks that ensure the optimal use of these technologies, highlighting the most prominent international and regional successful experiences in this field.

The program offers participants a practical opportunity for direct interaction with prestigious regional and international experts, and to engage in practical workshops that contribute to the exchange of diverse experiences and the building of advanced capabilities capable of keeping pace with rapid technological developments. The training program also provides a good opportunity for deeper understanding of the challenges associated with Artificial Intelligence applications in communications, exploring practical solutions that help ensure safe and effective use of these technologies, enhancing the ability of the digital infrastructure to respond to cybersecurity requirements and protecting the digital community according to best international practices.

It should be noted that the GSMA Association is a global organization working to unify the mobile communications ecosystem to discover, develop, and achieve necessary innovations for positive business systems and social change. The association's vision is to unleash the power of connectivity to achieve prosperity for people, the sector, and society. GSMA represents mobile operators, organizations in the mobile ecosystem, and related sectors, providing services to its members through three main pillars: Connectivity for social good, industry-specific services and solutions, and engagement. These activities include advancing policies, addressing key current societal challenges, supporting technology and interoperability that ensure mobile phone operation, and providing the world’s largest platform for the mobile ecosystem through a series of MWC and M360 events.
