Messis Injury Prevents Inter Miamis Friendly in Puerto Rico

Khaberni - Argentine star Lionel Messi missed his team Inter Miami's practice on Wednesday due to fatigue in the hamstring muscles of the left leg, prompting the American soccer league champion to postpone its friendly match in Puerto Rico.

The Argentine star and captain of Inter Miami was injured during the draw match against Barcelona Guayaquil 2-2 in Ecuador last Saturday.

Messi underwent further tests to determine the extent of the injury.

Messi said in a statement to the team "Unfortunately, I felt some muscle strain in the last match".

The return date of Qatar World Cup 2022 champion is still uncertain, as the club stated that his gradual return to training "will depend on the improvement of his health and functional condition in the coming days".

The reigning champion starts their journey in the 2026 league season facing Los Angeles FC on February 21.

Inter Miami was scheduled to play against Ecuador's Independiente del Valle in Puerto Rico on Friday, but the team announced the postponement of the match to February 26, three days before their match against their rival Orlando in the American league.

Messi, the winner of 8 Golden Balls for the best player in the world, addressing the fans in Puerto Rico, said "We were eagerly looking forward to seeing you. Therefore, we have worked with the club to find an alternative date for us to travel and play in Puerto Rico".

He concluded by saying, "We know how excited you are and your desire to watch Inter Miami's match, and it would be our pleasure for this to happen soon".
