Khaberni - The spokesperson for the General Security Directorate stated that a special investigative team from the Criminal Investigation Department began investigating several theft incidents carried out by unknown individuals on a number of kiosks and coffee shops in different areas of the capital just days ago.
The spokesperson added that through the investigative team's gathering of information, studying the criminal methods, and lifting evidence from the crime scenes, they succeeded in identifying a criminal network composed of six individuals led by a person with a criminal record who was sentenced in 2018 to eight years in prison and was released a month ago from the reform and rehabilitation center.
The spokesperson confirmed that the raiding teams in the Criminal Investigation and the investigative team were able, during the past five days, to pinpoint the suspects' locations, raid them, and arrest five of them who confessed to committing the thefts on coffee shops and kiosks, while the search continued for the main instigator of those thefts.
The spokesperson continued that this afternoon, after surveillance and gathering information, the specialized teams were able to determine the location of the main criminal and instigator in the case inside one of the vehicles east of the capital, where he resisted the security force and attempted to flee after crashing into one of the vehicles, however, the force managed to disable the vehicle and arrest him, and the strictest legal and administrative measures will be taken against them.
