Khaberni - UNICEF and the European Union announced on Wednesday the signing of two agreements worth 7 million euros, aiming to improve access to inclusive, high-quality education, and to enhance child protection services and psychosocial and social support services for the most vulnerable children and adolescents in Jordan.
According to a statement from UNICEF, this renewed partnership will also support the recovery of learning and the development of skills among children in Jordan, including Syrian refugees, through integrated services provided across Makani centers.
Over 30,000 children will benefit from safe educational environments and essential services that help them continue their education, reintegrate into learning, and build the skills necessary for their future. Makani centers operate in refugee camps and the most marginalized communities in remote areas, where they provide integrated educational support, child protection services, skill development, and psychosocial and social support, ensuring that children and adolescents receive comprehensive integrated care.
The European Union Ambassador to Jordan, Pierre-Christoph Schatzisavas, said: "This signing underscores the European Union's firm commitment to supporting the most vulnerable children across Jordan. Today, more than ever, it is essential to invest in the future of Jordan and Syria, and provide all the support the new generation deserves."
For his part, Mark Rubin, UNICEF representative in Jordan, stated: "This renewed and expanded partnership with the European Union allows UNICEF and its national partners to provide vital support to children and adolescents in hard-to-reach areas and the most marginalized communities in Jordan, helping them to learn, grow, and access the essential services they need."
He added: "This collaboration also enhances inclusive and preventive pathways, in line with the Jordanian government's commitment to child rights."
Through this agreement, the European Union and UNICEF reaffirm their joint commitment to achieving a sustainable and long-lasting impact for the neediest groups, while enhancing their shared goal of ensuring good education and protection for every child in Jordan.
