Khaberni - Pep Guardiola, manager of Manchester City, said that focusing on speculations about the race to win the English Premier League football title before each match is pointless and he is entirely focused on how to defeat his upcoming opponents.
Manchester City, currently in second place, has been chasing the leader Arsenal for months and its 2-1 victory at Liverpool last Sunday kept the gap at six points from the top.
Guardiola told the reporters today, Tuesday, a day before hosting Fulham, "Every time over the past weeks and months, whenever I go before the match for an interview, the question is always if you lose, you will lose everything and will vanish off the face of the earth and so on. So what I say is: What must you do to beat Fulham?"
City, aiming for its seventh Premier League title during Guardiola’s decade-long tenure, has won only twice in their last seven league games, allowing Arsenal to pull further ahead at the top thanks to four victories during the same period.
The Spanish coach said, "The difference is not large, but considering Arsenal's performance, six points is a considerable gap. The next game against a team like (Fulham) who has been improving year after year, so we will see."
Manchester City had to exert significant effort to win 5-4 away at Fulham last December, and Guardiola praised the way the London team has played under the management of coach Marco Silva since their promotion to the Premier League in 2022.
Guardiola said, "The player's movements... they are really good. The style of play and the quality that the team possesses, the balance in their performance as well as the speed they have. Marco is one of the best coaches I have faced. It’s certain he will be among the best in a few years."
