Khaberni - Chinese television reported that seven people died in an accident at a gold mine in Shandong province, eastern China, and that authorities are investigating the incident, which led to a six percent drop in the stock of Zhaojin Mining, the company that owns the mine, on Tuesday.
The television said late Monday that the accident occurred on Saturday when a cage fell in a shaft inside the mine.
It added that the departments of Emergency Management and Public Security are investigating to determine the cause of the accident and whether there was an attempt to cover it up.
Records from the data company Chit Chacha indicate that Zhaojin, a leader in gold production, owns the mine, and its stock dropped by 6.01 percent.
The relevant ministry announced the conduct of inspections on mines, chemical companies, and other hazardous operations.
An explosion also occurred on Saturday within a biotechnology company in northern China, resulting in the death of eight people.
