Surprise in the Investigation with an Egyptian Artist and the Union Retracts the Penalty for This Reason

Khaberni - In a shocking surprise, artist Mostafa Kamel, the head of the musicians' union, issued a decision to cancel the penalty issued by Dr. Alaa Salama, the deputy of the council of the Musicians' Professions Syndicate, which had fined her 100,000 EGP and suspended her from work for three months, following her interrogation over accusations of using inappropriate language during a wedding.

Mostafa Kamel decided to modify the penalty to a two-month work suspension, and a fine of 50,000 EGP instead of the 100,000 EGP fine and a three-month suspension, in a surprise that caused a crisis between the head and the deputy after he expressed surprise at the decision by Alaa Salama regarding Donia Alfy's punishment, not having consulted him due to his absence from the investigation room at the time for the Asr prayer.

The crisis began after a video circulated on social media, showing the singer uttering phrases the union considered offensive, leading to her being summoned to the headquarters of the general union, following instructions by the head, to investigate the incident.

Donia Alfy appeared before the legal affairs and the work committee of the union, chaired by Dr. Alaa Salama and the deputies Mansour Hindi, Mohamed Sobhi, Ayman Amin, and Ali Al-Sharia, the general supervisor of the regions. Also present were artist Ahmed El-Issawi, deputy of the union, Dr. Adel Mostafa, general secretary of the union, and Khaled Bayoumi, general secretary of the fund, and her statements were heard, resulting in a decision to suspend her from work for three months and impose a financial penalty of 100,000 EGP.

Donia Alfy surprised the attendees by leaving the interrogation room in a state of collapse, revealing to the journalists present that she had been verbally insulted during the interrogation by Dr. Alaa Salama, the deputy of the council of the Musicians' Professions Syndicate, who had used an inappropriate term to describe her and other female artists. Several council members came out to calm her, and then she returned to the interrogation accompanied by her father in front of the council, the work committee, head Mostafa Kamel, and the delegated advisor from the State Affairs Authority.

Mostafa Kamel and the musicians' council decided to retract the penalty, reducing it to two months suspension and a 50,000 EGP fine, in an incident considered the first of its kind in the union.
