Jordanian delegation visits Syria on Wednesday to discuss investment opportunities between the two countries

Khaberni - An economic delegation begins a working visit to the capital Damascus on Wednesday to search and explore existing investment opportunities in Syria, and to promote Jordanian investment projects.

The visit, which lasts two days and is organized by the Jordanian Businessmen Association in cooperation with the Syrian Businessmen and Businesswomen Association, includes organizing a joint investment forum, within the framework of activating the memorandum of understanding signed between the two parties since 2009.

The forum, which will be attended by investors, business owners, and companies from both countries, includes holding a comprehensive work session that will focus on reviewing investment opportunities in Syria and integrating economic legislations between the countries, considering Jordan as an important economic and logistical pillar for Syria.

The session aims to frame joint investment opportunities, especially in light of the economic moves of the Syrian side and their orientation towards strategic sectors for the purpose of enhancing economic integration and reconstruction to create a shared and sustainable investment bridge that serves both sides.

The forum includes holding business meetings between business owners and companies from both countries, which represent a platform for exchanging information on joint investment and trade cooperation, contributing to strengthening their relations and building partnerships based on mutual interests.

Ayman Al-Alawneh, president of the Jordanian Businessmen Association, confirmed in a press statement on Tuesday that the delegation's visit and the forum are of great importance, especially for enhancing and developing the economic relations of both countries and benefiting from the investment and commercial opportunities available to them in many strategic sectors.

He pointed out that the association is keen to make more efforts to promote major projects that the kingdom intends to implement in promising vital sectors and to attract investors to participate in them, in accordance with the role of the private sector included in the economic modernization vision.

Al-Alawneh, who heads the delegation comprising more than 30 businessmen representing commercial, service, and industrial sectors, confirmed the existence of numerous diverse opportunities in both countries at the commercial and investment levels, which can be used to develop their economic relations, particularly regarding reconstruction projects.

The delegation includes sectors of construction, transportation, logistics services, education, energy, water, general trade, agriculture, tourism, travel, industry, financial and banking, information technology, free and development zones, and industrial areas.
